Welcome to Get-E.org

Enlightenment DR 17 is a next-generation window manager for UNIX operating systems. It is currently in a pre-alpha stage and is under heavy development. A fairly large community already uses the development version from CVS on a daily basis though. Note that E17 is not officially supported at this stage, but people are free to try it out of course, but the standard disclaimers for pre-alpha software apply.

What we are

Welcome to the E17 users' portal. This site aims to provide high quality eyecandy for your e17 desktop experience.
We're trying to keep all content up to date, but sometimes we may not be able to keep up with the E17 development - some content may be outdated every now and then. Please take a look around and enjoy the stay.

CVS updates - Brian 'morlenxus' Miculcy [All my articles] (Sun, 13 Aug 2006 02:02:41 +0100)

During the last days where a few interesting updates in cvs:

Raster has updated the wallpaper config dialog.
E17 comes now with a few wallpapers made by raster. They will be installed system wide and listed at the right side of the wallpaper selection. On the left side you can see your own wallpapers from ~/.e/e/backgrounds/. You are also able to import a normal jpg/png file using the new fsel dialog window. In the fsel dialog you can open a context menu which allows to rename or delete a file.
Raster has even added the wobble effect to the wallpaper previews in the config dialog.

The efm has been removed from the e17 main menu. You can still start it with enlightenment_remote -start-efm /, but be aware that it's disabled because it isn't currently working!

The e17 menu has now a title 'Main'.

Essiene is currently coding an etk gui for configuring entrance.

A big change will be added soon:
There will be no longer Eapp files used. E17 will use .desktop files like Gnome or KDE. The good point is, that it will be possible to have Edje files as an icon. So there will be hopefully animated icons soon - to be found on get-e.org. :)
When the .desktop file support has been added, Eapp files will still be supported for a while.
