Welcome to Get-E.org

Enlightenment DR 17 is a next-generation window manager for UNIX operating systems. It is currently in a pre-alpha stage and is under heavy development. A fairly large community already uses the development version from CVS on a daily basis though. Note that E17 is not officially supported at this stage, but people are free to try it out of course, but the standard disclaimers for pre-alpha software apply.

What we are

Welcome to the E17 users' portal. This site aims to provide high quality eyecandy for your e17 desktop experience.
We're trying to keep all content up to date, but sometimes we may not be able to keep up with the E17 development - some content may be outdated every now and then. Please take a look around and enjoy the stay.

CVS roundup - Valtteri "vrln" Vainikka (Wed, 26 Oct 2005 20:25:54 +0000)

There's been plenty of CVS commits lately. Here's a small roundup of some recent events (this is by no means a comprehensive list, but should at least give you an idea which libraries etc are currently being developed the most). Note that these are mostly just directly copypasted from the CVS commit log, and are nowhere near all of the commit log messages (or patches) made lately.

Dan 'dj2' Sinclair and Nathan 'Rbdpngn" Ingersoll have been actively working on EWL - there's been a very large amount of fixes, improvements etc; too many to list here, but here are some of the commit messages that make some sense for users:

  • Hide menu when non-selection click occurs.
  • Add images for scrollbar change.
  • Update E17 theme scrollbars to better match official E17 theme.
  • Add pointer and mouse grabbing to windows and use in the menu.
  • Minor UI cleanup.
  • Install icons for the icon box test.

ETK has also been under development. Simon 'MoOm' Treny has committed these changes among other things:

  • ETK is now under the BSD licence.
  • [Tree] A tree can now have resizable column headers.
  • [Tree] Fix the rendering of the first column of a tree in the LIST mode.
  • [Scale] Implemented.
  • [Scrollbar] Implemented.
  • XCursor Support.
  • Should fix the amd64 segv.
  • A lot of invisible things, bug fixes and mem leaks solved.
  • Fix the separator.
  • Better implementation of gettext.

Meanwhile, ch4os has continued working on the Enlightenment Virtual File System (EVFS), Entropy (a filemanager that uses EWL and EVFS) and has also committed some improvements for the EWL iconbox widget. Here are some Entropy related commit log messages:

  • Stop ETK requirement bug.
  • Add bz2 image.
  • Port to new ewl_separator.
  • MIME changes.

And here are some of the improvements made to EVFS:

  • Bring the view menu back.
  • File refernces owned by the server now have a reference to the server object.
  • Nested URIs now work - i.e. tar over posix, tar over samba etc.
  • More complete/correct URI parser, also allows for nesting.
  • Miscellaneous cleanups.
  • TAR directory listing works.

Last but not least, Hisham 'CodeWarrior' Mardam Bey has been working on internal E17 widgets, EFM and the new EAP editor:

  • Most dialogs under EFM now have a basic/advanced switch.
  • Add internal EAP editor.
  • Add entry widget.
  • Add image widget.
  • Add initial gui for internal eap editor.
  • Add ability to save eap info to disk (EAP editor).
  • Add ability to create and populate empty eaps (EAP editor).
  • Add ability to create new eaps (based on engrave's approach).
  • Some improvements for the EAP editor GUI.
  • Add fileselector capability to EFM.
  • Add image browsing and choosing to internal eap editor.
  • Display file icon in properies dialog (EAP editor).
  • Don't tile image in eap editor (needs better approach to doing it) (EAP editor).
  • Make title setting on icon persistent (EAP editor).

There's also been a few E17 translation updates.
