As the eina libary is now a dependency of e, eore and other core libaries i needed to release a new version. This version also includes the exalt network daemon and edje_player - a replacement for edje_viewer. Please upgrade.

Horray, it's done: The new version of easy_e17.sh supports svn (the whole e projects moved from cvs to svn). As the current repository is a bit cluttered, the script functions for parsing svn updates and finding the packages in the svn tree needed to be rock solid. This resulted in a 946 lines diff...
Anyway, these are the changes:

• new repository dir is now ~/e17_src
• commandline arguments added:
  --no-sudopwd = if you don't have a sudo password set, enable this switch
• commandline arguments changed:
  --cvssrv -> --srcpath
  --cvssrv -> --srcurl

This version fixes some bugs and contains some little dependency checks:

• module iiirk added
• application edje_editor back in
• skipped packages is much faster now
• fix -v if wget fails downloading the script file
• add notification message on cvs conflicts when not using --fix-cvs-conflicts
• patch by amon which adds a funny waving man animation, use the new commandline argument --anim=weeh to enable it
• fixed bug: .log files where created even if there was nothing to log
• moved the status files to $tmp_path/status/
• skip cvs checkout/update if special variables are empty (for example $apps_misc)
• added simple dependency check for cvs, gcc and make...

As a result of the move of the status files out of $tmp_path into $tmp_path/status there is a new variable $status_path. So if you use the script for doing stuff automatically, please recognize the new location of the status files.

Im' currently working on a new e17 module called execwatch. It should periodly run a defined command and show an icon in the shelf, depending on the command exitcode. You can get an idea how it looks on this example screenshot. Some command ideas:

• ping -c 5 $HOST
• ports -d | grep -i "no differences found" (this checks for updates on Crux Linux)

From 27th to 30th of december 2007 was the 24c3 event at the Berlin Congress Center.
There where all kind of interesting lectures and workshops, and even a demo with about 1000 hackers using their voice to protest against the 'Vorratsdatenspeicherung'.
I was the whole four days at the congress and took a few photos:

It was a really nice event, cu next year to 25c3!

This release fixes a few problems of the new find package function used in 1.1.1 . Please upgrade to the new version immediately. Download it from the projects section.
Thanks to Bert Garcia, Stefan 'slax' Langner, and all the others which tested and reported bugs!

Now this is only a small release fixing the move problems with a few packages in cvs.
The problem was, that there where a few packages like etk moved to a new location from e17/proto to e17/libs. Now this is fixed and should never appear again, as the location of the packages is detected during executing of the script - and not hardcoded as before.
CVS has a bad limitation: If you move a package you will get the new dir but the old one at the old location isn't removed. So if you already have an existing ~/e17_cvs in your home and not doing a clean checkout, please delete these dirs:

• e17/proto/emphasis
• e17/proto/enhance
• e17/proto/enity
• e17/proto/estickies
• e17/proto/etk
• e17/proto/etk-perl
• e17/proto/exhibit

It's not important to remove this dirs but it will fix the warnings you get during the cvs update.
I also deleted the package etk_server, as it eats a whole bunch of mem during compilation and is currently broken.

Horray, version 1.1.0 is released and comes with nice new functions:

• --update switch which checks what has been updated in cvs and only compiles these packages
• --threads=<int> allows to set the number of threads make is using (default: 2), thanks to _ke!
• -k, --keep doesn't delete the tempdir after the script finished
• --wait let the script wait after finishing, useful if you run the script with xterm -e easy_e17.sh
• --cvsupdate simply updates the cvs and quits
• solaris support, thanks to slax
• added packages emphasis and edje_editor, removed e_utils, renamed eveil to alarm
• many bugs fixed

Because of the many new functions i did a version bump to 1.1.0 to reflect the changes.

I have changed the default website style to 'Tokyo Nightview'. Hope you like it as much as i do. :) You can still select the old style 'Underwater' from the new style switch.
I also added a 1024x768 preview to the media section, so browsing this section is now really fast.

Currently i'm trying to track down how the x cursor theming works. I want to patch the e17 mouse cursor dialog so that it also theme the xorg cursor.

For now this works following these few steps:
1. Download this theme package.
2. Create the dir ~/.icons .
3. Extract the theme using tar xfvj enlightenment_xorg_pointer.tar.bz2 -C ~/.icons/ .
4. Create the file ~/.Xdefaults and add these line:
   Xcursor.theme: enlightenment
5. Restart your X.

I have updated the crux portsearch to work correctly again. Also i removed my own ports from crux as i don't have the time to check what happens with them, if httup is working correctly, ...

The new version comes with a lot of improvements:

• short help on execute without arguments, full help with --help
• new output style
• option --cvssrv allows to checkout using a defined server
• cvs devs dir is checked out now
• removed outdated modules, added mixer and photo module
• three stage clean allows clean, distclean and uninstall
• ccache added for speedup the compile
• --skip-errors allows to compile all packages and simply continue with the next one if there is an error

I released version 1.0.2 of the easy_e17.sh script, which now also installs the evolume and eveil module. First one is a mixer module, the other one a little alarm module. You can find the new version in the projects section.
Today starts my three weeks holiday trip to japan, so there will be no new version during this time. I'm looking forward what will change in e17...

As i felt bored with the old design, i tried to create a better one. Now this is the result - hope you like it. The title image is from a pic which you can find in the wallpapers-section. It's from Mailenstein, many thanks for this nice shot!
I also added a rss feed for the blog section.

Another release of easy_e17.sh:
0.9.9 is out, featuring nice-level options. This makes the compile faster but harder for the machine, or slower, but you won't notice that something is compiled in the background. Just check the new options.

Easy_e17.sh 0.9.8 released, including a small patch from onefang:
When the cvs server isn't available or there was an error during checkout/ update, the script will run the same command again.

I added a new pictures folder: Wallpapers
This folder contains different wallpapers which i like. These wallpapers aren't copyright by me!

Easy_e17.sh 0.9.6 is released, only change was adding imlib2 back to the libs (i thought it isn't longer needed, but some third part apps need it...).

Easy_e17.sh 0.9.7 is released. The sourceforge cvs server is now used again, because the mirror doesn't add new cvs dirs, so e_modules and exhibit where missing. If you update easy_e17.sh, please remove the dir ~/e17_cvs, so that the sourceforge server is used.
Also there is now a short info message, if the path adding to /etc/ld.so.conf failed because of sudo.

I created my first e17 theme 'blue_eyed', based on the clean-e17 theme. You can find some screenshots and the .edj-file at /files.
I'm now helping at www.get-e.org, i do the english to german - translation.

I added a new screenshot of e17 in the pictures/screenshot section.
It's showing evidence and a fake transparent Eterm.

The pictures section is now online.
I added a new ModRewrite rule:
When you select a section like pictures you see in the url http://omicron.homeip.net/pictures/ which will be rewritten to /index.phtml?show=pictures .
This is very clean to the eyes and supports all kind of search engines, which can't correctly handle the get-variables.

Tomorrow is my birthday, maybe someone remembers that... ;-)

I also needed to say, that the omicron server will be down for a few days, because of my holiday trip to 'Wernigerode/Harz'.

I added the trickster-script to the projects page. I'm also planing to use mod_rewrite in apache to hide the /?show= urls - /home, /projects would be better...

Yesterday i completly moved to e17. It's absolutly cool what the crew around rasterman has coded. You can see how e17 looks on this screenshot.

You can now browse my site with https. The certificate is self signed, so don't blame me about the security message from your browser... Thanks to divxgoku for telling some english errors...

As you can see, i found the omicron logo somewhere on my hdd... :)

The omicron server is back online. What happened? Well here's the story: On friday, 22.04., i worked on the backup system. So i flushed the backup hdd. When getting up the next morning i noticed, that the data filesystem wasn't writeable any longer. I first thought about a configuration problem so i reactivated the old configuration and rebooted. That's the point when the worse begin: On boot process fsck fails with a missing superblock on my data hdd. The good thing with ex2/3 is that it creates a backup superblock. You only need to know where it is. For me the following command worked: `e2fsck -b 8193 `. First bad thing is, that all data was moved to 'lost+found'. Then second worse thing is, that all files and dirs, where the correct name couldn't restored was renamed as '#'. So i have a lot to do, ca. 100 dirs and near 4000 files. Because the files are mixed with icons and textfiles i deleted the omicron logo image by mistake... What a weekend...

Today i moved from Mozilla Thunderbird to Mutt. Because Mutt is only an ui for the mbox files, i also needed to install Procmail [MDA], Fetchmail [MRA] and Exim [MTA]. The movement to Mutt was really simple, because Thunderbird stores the mails in the mbox format. So i only needed to copy the inbox-file to the new position. Biggest problem was the Exim config. I'm still not sure, if i should use qmail or postfix for this, but there shouldn't be a big difference...

Well, i tried the new Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 (beta) for Linux - i was really surprised! The new version is gtk based and runs very fast. Check out my httpup repo if you're using Crux GNU/Linux. PDF viewing within Linux is now as fast and good as within Windows!
